Swatara is a small town in MN. Swatara the word is thought to mean "Where we fed on eels"

They had a couple of shows on the Discovery channel this evening about martial arts ( the ultimate warrior and xtreme martial arts). The thing I thought of as they waxed poetically on how noble this type of training is and how it is not training to hurt people the more I thought of our military. We train our military to defend, to have honor, to not kill noncombatants. But in the end we have the most lethal military on the planet. A quote from one of the shows was
" The martial arts have been practiced for centuries. Forged out of an ancient Asian world of mayhem and intimidation. But in fact they are all about self defense, discipline and honor."
The only changes to that quote to describe the US military are to replace martial arts with US military and to take out the word Asian. The tools of our military are different but the code they live by is the same and I am dam proud of the job they are doing for me and our country!
